2. Overcoming anticipatory anxiety by Sally M. Winston PhD. and Martin N. Seif PhD.

What is anticipatory anxiety might you ask? According to Winston and Seif (2022), it is the ‘anxiety you experience in anticipation of events or situations that you expect will make you conscious or uncomfortable’.

The book Overcoming Anticipatory Anxiety provides a well-written guidance on how to overcome anticipatory anxiety by integrating CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques in to their book. They also present different scenarios of where anticipatory anxiety can occur whilst adding is insightful advice on how you can slow down your thought process. These examples help readers find the main source of where their anxiety comes from and understanding the triggers; therefore, all of this information motivates readers to take action to moderate and cope with their anticipatory anxiety. I highly recommend this book if you are like me and chronically think about the worst case scenarios in situations and events that happen in the future.

3. The life-changing manga of tidying up: A magical story by Marie Kondo

Does the interior of your home look like the aftermath of a tornado and you're trying to find ways to declutter this chaotic mess? Well then this book is for you!

Kondo’s book is presented in a form of a manga, which provides a visual story with an engaging plot that is designed to motivate readers to tidy up their own place. The story is about Chiaki — a young woman who struggles with the clutter and chaos that’s present in her home and personal life. Then she encounters a mysterious woman named Ms. Hirano who introduces her to the power of tidying up. Throughout the book, Ms. Hirano guides Chiaki on a journey of self-discovery, and teaches her (and the readers) the KonMari tidying up methods step by step. Whether you’re a fan of manga, or you’re simply finding motivation to declutter your home and personal life, then you should give this book a read!

In conclusion, whether you’re seeking clarity, motivation, inspiration or personal growth, self-help books offer a broad range of life-changing advice. These types of books encourage us to fulfil our life’s purpose by navigating through life’s struggles and achieving our goals. Now it’s time to pick up a book that you resonate with and allow the pages to guide you to a more positive and empowered life.
